Matteo Villa

Matteo Villa is the USO Tromba, with training anchored by a Diploma Accademico di I livello in tromba from the Conservatorio G. Cantelli di Novara.

His studies include a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, a Biennio di II livello in Tromba rinascimentale e barocca at the Conservatorio G. Cantelli di Novara, and an Ergänzungsstudium in Tromba Naturale at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. He also refined his craft with Prof. Hannes Läubin in Munich.

Villa’s experience spans repertoire from Baroque and Classical through contemporary and light music. He has collaborated and performed with artists including Andrea Marcon, Stefano Bollani, Alexander Lonquich and Zhang Xian, and has been part of ensembles such as Spira Mirabilis, Ensemble Zefiro, and Orchestra 1813.

For USO’s crossover approach, his command of both modern and early-style trumpet—supported by pedagogy-focused training—adds a flexible, stylistically informed voice across musical worlds.
