Pedro Alves Silva is a clarinettist at USO, building on his third prize at the London Classical Music Competition (Youth Artist, 2023).
He began his musical training at the Conservatório de Música da Mafra, completing the Basic Music Course between 2018 and 2020, before continuing studies at Escola Profissional da Metropolitana in Lisbon, where he completed the professional course for Wind Instrument and Percussion in 2023. That same year, he enrolled at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Musical Performance with a specialization in clarinet.
His artistic experience includes collaborations with wind and orchestral formations, including the Orquestra de Sopros da Metropolitana, Orquestra Clássica Metropolitana, Orquestra de Sopros dos Templários, Banda da Armada Portuguesa, Orquestra do Colégio Moderno, and the Orquestra Sinfónica do Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, as well as participation in the project «900 Presente». He has worked with conductors such as Christoph König, Luís Miguel Clemente, Reinaldo Guerreiro, João Malha, Samuel Pascoal and Délio Gonçalves, and has attended masterclasses with clarinettists including Andrew Marriner, Nuno Pinto, Jordi Pons, Francesco Di Rosa, Nuno Silva, Carlos Alves and Rui Ferreira.
For USO’s crossover work, he brings a clear focus on chamber music and orchestral interpretation, shaped by both competition experience and extensive ensemble practice.
