Nicolò Neri is a versatile cellist with USO, prize-winning at “Premio Vittoria Caffa Righetti” and active from Swiss orchestras to contemporary chamber work.
Nicolò Neri is a cellist with the United Soloists Orchestra since its founding, bringing a first overall prize at the XXI International Music Competition “Premio Vittoria Caffa Righetti” (Cortemilia) and extensive orchestral experience.
His studies include a Certificate of Advanced Studies at Zurich University of Arts with Prof. C. Herrmann (Zurich Opera solo-cello), as well as Master of Arts degrees in Music Performance and Music Pedagogy at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana with Prof. A. Polo. He also studied at University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover.
Recent highlights feature engagement with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester( 25/26), Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orquestra sinfonica de Castiglia y Leon and Grafenegg Festival Orchestra( acting principal cello) amongst the others.
With performances in most of the main halls in Europe and abroad including Lucerne Festival, Musikverein Wien, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Paris Philarmonie, Seoul Arts Centre, Berlin Konzerthaus, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Salzburg Festspiele, Teatro Alla Scala, Milano, Mahler Festival, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Dresdner Musikfestspiele amongst the others and participation in activities of the Musethica Organisation (2022/2023).
At USO, Neri’s combination of high-level string training and contemporary chamber work supports the orchestra’s crossover ambition—moving between classical and contemporary repertoire with versatility and clarity.
He currently plays a cello attributed to C.G. Testore (18th century, Milano) thanks to a private loan.
