Francesco Musso

Francesco Musso is a double bass player with a strong track record of excellence, including a top-grade diploma in double bass at the Istituto Musicale “V. Bellini” di Catania.

After starting music at a very young age with his father, he studied piano and double bass and, in June 2011, graduated in double bass with top marks. He later earned an academic second-level diploma in double bass (interpretative–compositive focus) with 110 e lode, presenting a thesis on Giovanni Bottesini, Il Paganini del contrabbasso. His continuing training included advanced courses with M° Franco Petracchi at the Campus Interazionale di Sermoneta and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, along with further specialization under Davide Galaverna, Antonio Sciancalepore, Paolo Cocchi, Omar Lonati, and refinement with Giuseppe Ettorre and Francesco Siragusa.

Musso has performed in Italy and abroad in major theatres and venues, including Teatro alla Scala (Milano) and Teatro Massimo “V. Bellini” (Catania), working under conductors such as Zubin Mehta and Plácido Domingo. He also appeared alongside renowned soloists including P. L. Aimard and C. Burato.

At USO’s crossover projects, his repertoire-minded approach—ranging from classical to pop, jazz and swing—supports a versatile, audience-focused musical voice.
