Biography

Giulio Tosatti, son of a musician, began his musical career at the age of 7 by studying drums at the "Dedalo" music school in Novara under the guidance of Nicola Stranieri. At 11, he started studying classical percussion with Maestro Davide Merlino, then enrolled at the "G. Cantelli" Conservatory in Novara, where he completed his studies in June 2013 under Maestro Matteo Moretti. He received a scholarship to participate in the Erasmus project during the 2010/2011 academic year, studying at the "Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium" in Aarhus (DK), and attending courses at the DIEM (Danish Institute of Electronic Music). He has participated in numerous masterclasses, performed in important venues and theaters such as the "Lingotto," Auditorium della RAI, "Teatro Regio" in Turin, Auditorium "G. Verdi" in Milan and collaborated with the Stage Entertainment orchestra at the "Teatro Nazionale" in Milan in the musicals "Beauty and the Beast" and "Sister Act." In September 2014, he performed at the "La Fenice" theater in Venice playing "Sonata for Two Pianos and Two Percussionists" by Béla Bartók, with the young quartet Kourdisma. In 2014, he moved to Havana for two months, where he deepened his knowledge and specialized in Afro-Cuban percussion under the guidance of Mauricio Gutierrez Upmann and Eliel Lazo. With Maestro Rodolfo Guerra, he studied salsa and Latin jazz. He completed an advanced course in jazz harmony with Maestro Ramberto Ciammarughi. He studied Djembe with griots Magatte Dieng (Senegal) and Seydou Dao (Burkina Faso), and in the winter of 2015, he spent some time in Senegal to further explore the culture and music of West Africa. Additionally, he studied with Josè Montaña, one of the world's leading Cajón players. He has recorded numerous CDs with orchestral and chamber formations, as well as with musical projects ranging from electronic music to traditional music, as a drummer, percussionist, and producer. He is active in musical projects such as Kassie Afò (world/electro), Wime (weird pop), Siete Lunas (South American traditional), Mach 6 (jazz/fusion). From 2015 to 2019, he was a percussion teacher at the musical high school "Felice Casorati" in Novara, and during the 2020/21 school year, he taught at the "C. Rebora" musical middle school in Stresa.
