Biography

Daniil Chornyi is a Ukrainian double bassist. Born in 1996 in southern Ukraine, he began his musical journey studying violin before switching to double bass at the age of 16. He refined his skills at the music college in his hometown, then at the Glinka Music Academy in Dnipro, and later studied in England with Professor Valentina Ciardelli. He is currently continuing his studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana under the guidance of Professor Enrico Fagone. Daniil has held prominent orchestral positions, including principal double bass in the "Resonance" chamber orchestra and second double bass in the "Slobojansky" Symphony Orchestra of Kharkiv. He has also collaborated with the Zaporizhzhia Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Zürich, and participated in projects with the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg, Neue Philharmonie Berlin, and the Kiev Symphony Orchestra. He has taken part in prestigious international music programs, including the Trentino Music Festival (Italy), the BISYOC European Youth Orchestra (Germany), and Musica Antica in Groznjan (Croatia), as well as masterclasses with Joel Quarrington and Ronan Dunne.
