Matteo Villa

Matteo Villa obtained his Bachelor of Music degree at the “G. Cantelli” Conservatory in Novara in the class of M° Gabriele Cassone, studying both the modern and the baroque trumpet. He later specialized in Munich with Professor Hannes Läubin, Principal Trumpet of the "Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks". In 2018, he obtained the “Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy – Instrument: Trumpet” at the "Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana" in Lugano in the class of M° Francesco Tamiati, Principal Trumpet of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, graduating under M° Max Sommerhalder and M° Antonio Faillaci. He is currently enrolled in the “Second-Level Master's Program in Renaissance and Baroque Trumpet” at the “G. Cantelli” Conservatory in Novara. He has attended masterclasses and advanced courses with Hannes Läubin, Edward Tarr, Eric Aubier, Francesco Tamiati, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Max Sommerhalder, Gabriele Cassone, Kristian Steenstrup, Marco Braito, Immanuel Richter, and others. In addition to the symphonic repertoire, he is interested in the Baroque repertoire, dedicating himself to performances on copies of original instruments, and in 20th-century music, collaborating with the Orchestra of the ‘900presente Festival in Lugano. He has collaborated with the studio project Spira Mirabilis, Ensemble Zefiro, Ensemble La Dolcezza, Orchestra Fraumusika, Camerata Rousseau Basel, United Soloist Orchestra, Orchestra 1813 di Como, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra ICO della Magna Grecia, Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, Maribor International Orchestra, Junge Deutsch–Französisch Philharmonie in Bayreuth, International Regions Orchestra, Orchestra da Camera di Lugano, Ensemble ‘900 Presente of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, Orchestra Sinfonica Carlo Coccia, and others. He has performed with conductors and artists such as Andrea Marcon, Sara Mingardo, Veronika Suplik, Stefano Bollani, Mario Venzago, Wolfram Christ, Arturo Tamayo, Zhang Xian, and others. He is currently a Trumpet Professor at the Music High Schools of Varese and Busto Arsizio.
