Zorioscar Urbina Urbina

Zorioscar Urbina is a bassoonist and contrabassoonist with United Soloists Orchestra, distinguished by her Second Prize at the Lake Como Virtuoso Competition (2023).

She began her studies in Venezuela through El Sistema, at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory in Caracas with Omar Ascanio and Henning Trog. At 17, she joined the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra, appearing internationally, including at the Salzburg Festival in 2013. In 2016 she moved to Italy to study with Giorgio Versiglia at the ISSM “Gaetano Donizetti” in Bergamo, graduating with highest honors, and later completed a Master in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano under Gábor Meszáros.

Her orchestral work has included collaborations with Teatro alla Scala, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Teatro Regio Torino, Orchestra della Toscana and Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, in roles ranging from first, second and third bassoon to contrabassoon. Alongside this, she is active in chamber and solo work through Ticino Musica and has appeared at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival; she is co-founder of the Monet Quartet.

As USO’s crossover partner, she brings a flexible orchestral foundation and a strong chamber-facing musical instinct, reinforced by ongoing study with Marion Reinhard and Alberto Biano.
