Sofia Porto Perdiz da Costa Alves

Sofia Periz Alvez is a trumpet player whose standout credentials include 2nd Prize at Portugal’s Prémio Jovens Músicos.

She began studying trumpet in 2015 at the Conservatório Regional Silva Marques, later continuing at Escola Profissional Metropolitana in Lisbon before moving to Switzerland for higher education in music.

At the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2024 and a Master in Music Performance in 2026, while currently starting a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy, specializing in trumpet.

Her extensive orchestral experience includes performances with Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, and Orquestra XXI, with appearances at major venues and festivals such as the Musikverein in Vienna, Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, and the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest.

Through masterclasses with internationally recognized musicians including Gábor Tarkövi, Wim Van Hasselt, Guida Segers, Sérgio Charrinho, and Filipe Coelho, Sofia develops both performance and pedagogical skills—an ideal foundation for USO’s cross-genre repertoire across orchestral performance, chamber music, and education.
