Biography
Mattia Caputo is a trumpet teacher and performer, active between Italian- and German-speaking Switzerland, with a focus on practical musical accessibility and inclusion through his work in music mediation.
He began studying the trumpet at age nine with the Filarmonica Unione San Pietro, later training with prof. Antonio Faillaci at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. In 2019 he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music in the class of prof. Francesco Tamiati, first trumpet of Teatro alla Scala di Milano; during his studies he was also guided by prof. Max Sommerhalder. In 2021, at Hochschule Luzern – Musik, he completed a Master in Instrumental Pedagogy with a Minor in Orchestra, under prof. Markus Würsch, alongside work on natural trumpet.
Alongside teaching, Caputo pursues a concert career collaborating with symphony and wind ensembles in Switzerland and Italy, including service as first trumpet with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Fiati dell’Esercito Svizzero from 2018 until the end of his compulsory service. He has also worked with renowned conductors and soloists, while contributing as moderator and editor for RSI Rete Due musical programming.
