Francesco Facchini

Violin

Biography

The passion for music began at an early age when he started studying the violin at the age of 6, later entering the Conservatorio di Novara and the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, where he studied with Dora Schwarzberg. Alongside his performance art, he developed an interest in teaching, and in 2014 embarked on a Master of Study in Music Pedagogy at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, where he would later refine his skills on the instrument under the guidance of Carlo Chiarappa and Alessandro Moccia (Master in Music Performance and Master of Advanced Studies). It was in Lugano in 2017 that he met Marco Baronchelli and Carlo Maria Paulesu, leading to the creation of the filoBarocco project, an eclectic ensemble that has participated in the EEEmerging project (selection of the best emerging projects in Europe in the field of early music) and has had valuable collaborations, the latest being with Erik Bosgraaf. The ensemble has performed concerts across Europe, with upcoming performances scheduled at the International Festival of Early Music in London in November 2024 and at the Festival di Musica Antica in Bolivia in April 2026. He also collaborates with various orchestras, performing in Italy and abroad (Israel, Switzerland, Germany, Iran, Korea), working with different artists including Giuliano Carmignola, Mario Brunello, Ilya Gringolts, and Sergey Krylov. In May 2018, he won the First Prize at the Valstrona National Musical Interpretation Competition (Piedmont). He has three recordings with the Arcana label, the latest of which will be released in February 2025 and will feature the music of Barbara Strozzi. Since 2018, he has held the position of violin professor at the Scuola Media Musicale di Omegna (Lake Orta).
