Biography
Angelo Maria Orsini began studying the piano at the age of 5, graduating with the highest honors. He first gained the public and critics' attention as a very young pianist, winning various competitions. He later pursued the study of the horn and graduated with highest honors and distinction from the Conservatorio di Pescara (Italy). He obtained a Master’s in anthropo-psycho-pedagogical disciplines, teaching methodologies and technologies in schools, and he graduated in orchestral conducting for winds after attending a three-year course at FeBaTi (Switzerland). He has participated in important musical events, performing concerts at major institutions: Rai in Turin, the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, La Scala Theatre in Milan, the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, the San Carlo Theatre in Naples, the Marrucino Theatre in Chieti, the Dal Verme Theatre in Milan, the Massimo Theatre in Palermo, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, and the University of the United Arab Emirates in Al Ain (where he held a lecture-concert with the brass quintet), the Greek Theatre in Taormina, the Palace of Quirinale (collaborating with famous pop music singers for the program “Tutti a scuola,” live on Rai 1 with the presence of the President of the Republic), Rai Studios in Milan (for the program “Che tempo che fa” live on Rai 1), the Theatre of the Muses in Ancona (where he performed various concerts live on TV), the Colosseum and the Baths of Caracalla in Rome, the Lyrical Theatre in Trieste, the Italian Embassy in Vienna and the Innsbrucker Promenaden, the Concert Hall of the Music Academy in Krakow, the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, the Shostakovich Auditorium in St. Petersburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Budapest, the Kissinger Sommer Festival in Bad Kissingen, and the Auditorium in Ulm (during the international wind orchestras congress) in Germany, the Tivoli Auditorium in Utrecht in the Netherlands, Lac, the RSI Auditorium in Lugano, and the cultural center of Kreuzlingen in Switzerland, etc., under the baton of great Masters such as Metha, Luisi, Tatarnikov, and Aprea (with whom he performed Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 as the 1st solo horn). In 2007, with the brass quintet “Sketch in Brass,” he held numerous concerts receiving unanimous acclaim from critics and the public. Since 2012 he has been registered at the SIAE as a composer and has produced numerous compositions and arrangements, some of which have been published by the publishing house Accademia 2008. In 2015, he began playing as the 1st horn in the Civica Filarmonica di Lugano, with which he won the award for best horn section at the European Championship for Wind Orchestras, held in Utrecht (Netherlands), the Golden Flügelhorn at Riva del Garda (TN), and he recorded a CD under the direction of M° F. Cesarini. In 2016, at a concert held in the city of Silvi Marina (TE), the municipal administration awarded him a plaque of recognition for his exceptional personal skills and the high cultural value of his profession. In 2018 he joined the wind orchestra of Italian Switzerland, giving concerts both in Switzerland and in the Vatican. In the same year, he performed Mozart's Concerto No. 1 for horn and orchestra, conducted by M° D. Milozzi (1st flute Rai). He has been the conductor of various wind orchestras and the “Ticinese Group of Horns from the Alps.” Since 2020 he has been a horn teacher in the Fe.Ba.Ti. advanced courses. In 2022, he started playing with the ensemble Alpen Harmonie (performing with the alphorn). In the same year, he was appointed as a teacher and tutor for the jazz and popular music project at Liceo Manzoni in Varese. In 2024, he will begin playing as the 1st horn in the Mendrisio Philharmonic. He has been appointed several times as an external commissioner for exams in horn, trumpet, trombone, and tuba at the Conservatorio di Musica dell'Aquila. He passed the audition for horn both in the National Orchestra of Conservatories (ONC) and in the Academy of La Scala Theatre. He qualified for teaching piano at the Conservatorio di Campobasso (CB), and for teaching horn at the Conservatories of Avellino (AV) and Trapani (TP). He has taught at the European School of Varese, and since 2013 has been actively teaching at middle schools, and in various music schools in Canton Ticino.
