Biography

Ulisse Roccasalva was born on January 31, 1990, in Geneva. At the age of 7, he moved to Ticino and began studying the cello with Maestra Beat Helfenberger at the Music School of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana. In August 2012, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music in the cello class of Maestra Taisuke Yamashita, and in 2014, he earned a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy (cello) in the same class with Maestro Yamashita and under the guidance of cellist Mattia Zappa. From September 2015 to June 2017, he was part of the cello class of Monika Leskovar, and in June 2019, he obtained a Master of Arts in Performance under the guidance of Johannes Goritzki. He has also participated in various masterclasses, which allowed him to work with renowned cellists, including Natalia Gutman, Jeroen Reuling, Marcio Carneiro, Alain Meunier, and Alexander Gebert. Ulisse is also active in teaching. From 2015 to 2023, he was a cello teacher at the Superar Suisse association, and since September 2023, he has been a cello teacher at the music school of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana.
