Biography
Jesmar Rojas (born on February 14, 2001, in Caracas, Venezuela) is a distinguished double bassist trained within the Venezuelan orchestral system. She began her musical education at an early age and, since 2012, has been part of prestigious orchestras. In 2013, she made her first international performance with the National Orchestra of Venezuela at the Salzburg Festival.
Throughout her career, Jesmar was a permanent member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (OSSBV) until 2021, participating in international tours across Europe and the Americas under the baton of renowned conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Christian Vásquez, and Sir Simon Rattle. This experience significantly shaped her artistic development, allowing her to perform in prestigious venues, including the Philharmonie Berlin, and collaborate with world-renowned musicians.
In 2021, Jesmar moved to Switzerland to continue her studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music and is currently pursuing a Master in Performance (2024-2026) under the guidance of Maestro Enrico Fagone.
During her time in Switzerland, she has been invited as a guest player with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI) and has participated in significant musical projects, including collaborations with oboist Albrecht Mayer and maestro Luca Pianca. She has also had the honor of performing alongside Emmanuel Pahud and Martha Argerich.
In December 2024, Jesmar took part in a tour of China with the United Soloists Orchestra, expanding her musical perspective and enhancing her adaptability to diverse artistic environments.
She has received masterclasses from renowned double bassists such as Edicson Ruiz, Lorraine Campet, Fora Baltacigil, Joel Quarrington, and will soon with Francesco Siragusa.
